Newcastle's captain since 2015, centre-back Jamaal Lascelles, 29, was involved last night in a fight outside a nightclub in the city, after a dispute between a gang and the player's brother, 19 years old, plus a friend, who became unconscious and was urgently transported to a hospital unit.
The group of attackers fled before the arrival of police, who are investigating the riot on Westgate Road.
Lascelles has been with the magpies since 2015 and made 11 appearances last season, not adding a single minute this season.
